Create email address with your own domain for free

Today you are going to see how to create a custom domain with outlook.com for free, two years before Google was providing this feature free of cost but nowadays you have to pay to get your own domain email address. But, Microsoft is providing this feature silently, so make use of it.

First go to http://domains.live.com

Sign in with your Live or Hotmail or Outlook email account, then click the ‘Get started’ button as shown in the below screen:

After you click the ‘Get Started’ link you will see the next screen like the below one, click the ‘Add Domain‘ button to add your domain.

The next screen will ask you to enter your own domain, just enter it and then select Set up Outlook.com for my domain to continue.

Next screen will ask you to enter the CAPTCHA and to agree their terms and conditions. Click I Accept button to move to the next screen:

Now you have added your domain successfully in live.com, but you need to prove your ownership to complete this setup, two main steps you have to do in your hosting provider MX records and TXT record, I have marked them:

Adding MX records and TXT is very simple, I tried these setting with Godaddy, Hostgator and Netfirms. But I cannot show you all of them, so I’m going to show you only on Hostgator, steps for the other hosting providers are also similar.

Log in to your Hostgator account (basically C-Panel) and click MX Entry as shown below:

Clicking the above icon will bring you to the below page, now select your domain and select “Automatically Detect Configuration” and then add the MX records in the Add New Record section: 

After you added the record, your MX records section will be shown like below (remember only one record should be there delete if any there any other records):

You are almost done, only one step left ie., adding the TXT record, now move to the home page in C-panel and click ‘Advanced DNS Zone Editor‘ :

Now, select your domain then add the TXT records in ‘Add a record‘ section:

You have added the MX records and TXT record in your hosting, now go to domains.live.com and click the ‘Refresh‘ button, if not working try after some time (NOTE: it may take some time approx. 1 hour):

That’s it you have completed the all the steps, once the DNS records are activated you can start creating emails. You can create up to 50 email accounts with your own domain.
